Kaveh Solhekol was on Sky Sports this morning speaking about Chelsea’s recently announced deal to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
Sky’s top man says Gittens chose Chelsea over Bayern

“Chelsea have been closely following Jamie Gittens for quite a while. And they have just announced in the last few minutes that the signing has been completed. Gittens was actually here in Philadelphia last night and he was at the game when Chelsea were playing Palmeiras. And we saw him on the pitch afterwards. So it was an open secret that he was going to become a Chelsea player,” Solkehol explained.
He also had some interesting insight into how Gittens had decided that Chelsea would be his next destination:
“Chelsea are paying Borussia £48.5m for him, plus potentially £3.5m in add ons. Dortmund drove a pretty hard bargain… and the final negotiations between the clubs were carried out in Fort Lauderdale in Florida. Gittens gets the move he’s been interested in for a long time, other clubs were interested in signing him – for instance Bayern Munich. But he made it clear to his representatives that he only wanted to move to Chelsea this summer, and he’s now a Chelsea player. He signed a 7 year contract. Also it means that Chelsea have spent pretty big in the transfer market this summer. They signed Liam Delap, they signed Joao Pedro from Brighton and now they’ve completed the signing of Gittens.”

Gittens desire to play for Blues is a good sign
The fact that Gittens was so keen to play for us always bodes well, as does the other commentary we’ve heard about Gittens and his attitude.
