It’s not just Cole Palmer who is struggling with injury at Chelsea at the moment. In his press conference this morning, Enzo Maresca reported on a fresh problem which will be immensely frustrating.
“Yeah, we have Levi [Colwill] and Liam [Delap], they are still out. Unfortunately, Benoit [Badiashile] will be out until December, injury again.”
Asked for more details, Maresca said it was a “muscle problem.”
“He was doing fantastic [in the previous two games], he showed all of this, he showed what we needed, and we’re going to wait for him.”
Badiashile had just come back from his last problem, picked up at the Club World Cup. He played really well against Benfica and then Liverpool, but as every with the Frenchman, his return to the team never lasts long.
He didn’t make it to the end of the Liverpool game, and while it was said at the time to just be cramp, something worse was clearly going on.
Badiashile injury issues as severe as anyone at Chelsea

This really is mad – while Wesley Fofana has been tagged with the “injury prone” label because he’s had a few very long term problems, Badiashile is the opposite. He’s really the injury prone one, given his problems are shorter term but return every time he plays a couple of games.
Thankfully, Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo are all set to return for tomorrow’s game.
In other news…
Badiashile isn’t the only piece of bad injury news from today’s presser. Maresca also dropped the hammer blow news that Cole Palmer is set to miss six further weeks with his ongoing groin problem.
One potential solution to that will be using Facundo Buonanotte in the hole as a ten. The loanee is already getting more games than he would have expected this season.
