Chelsea lead at Stamford Bridge!
As usual, it’s been a slow start from Enzo Maresca’s men. But a red card for Ajax changed the game, and within two minutes of the opposition being reduced to ten, the Blues were ahead.
It came from the resulting free kick – the routine looked rather botched by a scuffed cross, but that actually ended up helping Chelsea. The cross bounced through the box to the far post, where Wesley Fofana headed back across goal.
Marc Guiu had stayed offside as part of the initial routine, but by the time that header came back across goal he was onside. He scored his first Chelsea goal of 2025 on his first start. That should do wonders for his confidence as he looks to make an impact following his recall from loan.

Update: Blues bag second

Chelsea have now added a second! Moises Caicedo has lashed one in from outside the box, thanks in part to a heavy deflection. Now sub him off!
That’s another goal for the midfielder, who scored a screamer against Liverpool before the international break.
This score could be anything now, our opposition are a man and two goals down after half an hour. All that can save them now is Chelsea easing off.

In other news…
Jamie Gittens got a start tonight and he really needs to impress given his struggles for minutes under Enzo Maresca, even with players like Liam Delap and Cole Palmer out.
Another exciting young English winger could feature tonight too – Ryan Kavuma-McQueen is named on the bench for the Blues for the first time.
