Chelsea’s manager has no answers to why his team keep struggling – that’s worrying

Enzo Maresca was interviewed on BBC’s Match of the Day last night where he was forced to try and explain a painful defeat for his team.

Chelsea were 1-0 up, but then conceded to a long throw. In the 93rd minute, they conceded again and lost the game.

“Not good enough” – You’re telling us, Enzo

“We started well with the ball but we were losing the second balls and against these sort of teams you have to know how to deal with that and overall we were not good enough,” the Chelsea coach said.

“It was not one of our best performances. You can drop points against any team if you do not perform at 100%. I think when you lose a game like today it is not just about one player, we were not good enough in general and it is something we need to learn soon as the Premier League is full of these games.”

Well we’re 15 months into his time as manager, any chance of the team figuring things out soon? These players shouldn’t need to “learn” that the Premier League is hard, they’re playing it every week.

For once we’d like an answer with some specifics from this coach about what is going wrong and how he intends to fix it. Is that too much to ask? This vague waffle about being not good enough doesn’t convince anyone that things are going to change in the long run.

In other news…

Trevoh Chalobah was also asked to explain the defeat, and he really struggled to come up with anything, much like his manager. At least he stood up to be counted.

It wasn’t just defensively that the Blues struggled – Joao Pedro and Marc Guiu were anonymous up top, raising major questions about our attacking system.

  1. The problem is the manager….. Replace him he is not the one to make this team to win the premier league and even the UCL . Try the Strasbourg manager to manage this team , see if he can win the EPL and UCL with this group of players . I don’t think maresca likes guiu because the performance isn’t there . Chelsea FC has a striker already in them the Argentina player of Strasbourg the new crespo .

    1. Maresca’s Chelsea aren’t told to fight hard or track back , they have no leaders it’s side passing and pretty football
All the premier teams know how to play us , just keep harassing the player and he will give up
The Manager should be tougher with individuals not just pointing out mistakes like he would his sons
We will be lucky if we finish in the top 4
