Chelsea’s interim manager names the four players who didn’t feature who helped their team anyway

While this week has been a bleak one for Chelsea, and people have even managed to find a dark side to Calum McFarlane’s appointment as interim manager, the celebrations of the young coach when Chelsea equaliser were a nice moment to take from this dark time.

He spoke to Sky Sports at full time and revealed a little about how he had prepared for today’s game against Man City.

“The players were all open and hardworking. They want to do the right things,” the Under 21s coach said.

“I can’t speak about my changes more than them buying into it and applying what we wanted them to do. They did that exceptionally in the second half. The group have been exceptional, as a staff coming in, we couldn’t ask for more. No egos, completely on board and training has been great.

“Enzo, Reece and Tosin in terms of their leadership and management of the group. Levi, Cucu, Moises and Robert all here, travelling even though they know they won’t play,” the coach said.

It had even been noticed that that group were out on the pitch during the warmup, gee-ing up their teammates and helping them prepare.

“The togetherness is incredible. We were 1-0 down at half-time, with an interim manager and players out injured. Everyone expects the worst. The characters they have, they are an exceptional group.”
