Liam Rosenior has described Josh Acheampong as an “outstanding” player and insisted he wants the defender to remain at Chelsea.
Acheampong was promoted to the first team squad last season by Enzo Maresca, but has been used sparingly by both the Italian and Rosenior this season.
The teenager scored his first goal against Nottingham Forest, and has impressed when handed the opportunity, which hasn’t been as often as he would have liked.

Acheampong has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season, and has appeared at both right back and centre back.
It appears the 19-year-old’s preference is to play as a centre back, but a lack of game time has led to speculation over his future.

Acheampong was linked with a move to Crystal Palace, whilst the Blues are also thought to have turned down interest from Dortmund last summer.
Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in Acheampong, but Rosenior has insisted he wants the youngster to remain part of the first team squad.
Chelsea still pushing for Jeremy Jacquet
It’s no secret Chelsea are looking for another centre back, and they’ve identified Rennes star Jermey Jacquet as their primary target.
Jacquet has reportedly indicated his preference is to join the Blues, but Rennes are said to want £60m for their top talent.
Chelsea as of yet haven’t made an offer, and there’s also said to be interest from both Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
Rennes would prefer to keep the 20-year-old until the summer, but Chelsea are reportedly still pushing to get a deal done this month.
