Pedro Neto was the man chosen to step up and speak publicly after a hectic week at Chelsea which saw the manager removed.
This all happened in the build-up to perhaps the trickiest trip of the year – to face Man City at the Etihad. Perfect timing, eh?
Neto still positive that Chelsea can take something from menacing Man City

Neto remained positive that his team could get something from this match:
“If we beat Man City we make a big statement that we are here and we will continue to fight for our purpose and for our goals. This is what we have to do. We are at Chelsea, we want to win trophies, we want to be at the top of the league, so we have to work for it,” the winger said.
“Inside the group we have to have the mentality of not hearing the noise that is going on outside and know what we are capable of. We have to work hard together and have the mentality that we are capable of doing great stuff.”
We really hope that’s true and not just bluster. We’d be lying if we said we expected anything other than a hefty beating tonight. Still, stranger things have happened, and in football you never quite know.
Whatever the result, we just hope it’s not a horrible rout which damages our morale too severely with so many matches to come in the next weeks.
In other news…
Paul Merson was on Sky this morning, and he was very clear about why top coaches in the Premier League aren’t desperate to land the Chelsea job.
Chelsea lost one of their best young talents to Liverpool not long ago, and are not apparently preparing for revenge on the Reds.
