Paul Merson has been on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday this afternoon talking about Chelsea, the team he supports.
The Blues parted ways with Enzo Maresca this week, and according to Merson the coach was happy to take a risk by pressuring those above him because he had the leverage of a Club World Cup in his back pocket.
“If he’d have lost four on the trot he’d still be there. He’s come in, and because he’s doing well and his stock is high, he’s gone in and thought ‘I’ll mix it up, and if I do get the sack I’ve left on a high,” Merson explained.
Top coaches scared off Chelsea job by conditions

Merson also explained in chilling terms the reality of why the Premier League’s up and coming coaches don’t want the job:
“He’s gone in because his stock is high. The problem is that it’s not a good job. Marco Silva’s not after it, Andoni Iraola’s not after it. Oliver Glasner’s not after it… Chelsea’s an unbelievable club, but it’s not a good club for someone because you’re not in charge. You’re just coaching.”
That’s exactly what Chelsea need to worry about – they’ve created a system where it’s very hard to find a top coach who will take the job, and where if anyone makes a success of it, they will want to force their way out.

In other news…
Chelsea lost one of their best young talents to Liverpool not long ago, and are not apparently preparing for revenge on the Reds.
Strasbourg fans are already largely unsure about the multi-club model, and having Liam Rosenior taken off them mid-season seems like it could be the last straw for many of them..

Chelsea need to get rid of the kiddie fiddlers lawrence and winstanley on Brazils child sex register, know fuck all about football but cause all the trouble. Better still make them thick yanks sell up
