Chelsea’s owners “BlueCo” have spent a lot of time trying to convince fans of Strasbourg, the French club that they own, that a multi-club model isn’t all bad.
They’re now about to undo all that work by stealing the Ligue 1 side’s manager mid-season, after the surprise exit of Enzo Maresca from Chelsea.
Strasbourg fans unhappy with BlueCo decision
The Athletic spoke to some fans about the situation and most of them said the same thing – even those who had been positive about some aspects of the multi-club consider this a step too far.
“It’s been a really good thing because we have money that we didn’t have before, so we can grow,” said one.
“But now with the news that Liam Rosenior might go, I’m sad and disappointed. It’s going too far if he leaves. If he goes, then I’m going to be angry and I know all the supporters feel the same way”
“It’s a bit of a disaster if he goes — he should stay at our place. It’s not good for him, it’s not a good thing for Strasbourg. In the middle of the season, it shouldn’t be possible.”
It’s going to upset Strasbourg fans, it’s going to weaken the team significantly at a crucial moment, and it’s probably not even going to work out for Rosenior at Chelsea. This is just a disaster happening in slow motion in front of our eyes.
