Liam Rosenior has just spoken to the media after Chelsea’s nice win over Wolves, and while the overall performance was great, the manager did admit he’d seen the same disappointing slump in the second half we all did.
The Blues dominated the first period and looked set to do the same in the second, but in the end the home team were the ones who got the next goal. After that, without looking overly stressed at the back, Chelsea threatened very little in attack.
Rosenior disappointed by Chelsea’s second half retreat
“I wanted the same performance in the second half as the first half, but when you concede a goal it changes the flow and the momentum of a game,” Rosenior said, post game.
“I saw the frustration – which I liked – in the players not keeping a clean sheet. And sometimes if you have the ball, the other team can’t score. I’d like us to be more offensive at times, but I think the first half was a really, really good platform to build on.”
It was one of the best halves we’ve had under the new coach, especially in attack, and we hope it can gradually become the norm. He’s really getting settled in now, and we have another winnable game on Tuesday.
