Ange Posetecoglou’s visit to Sky’s “The Overlap” show had some interesting Chelsea related moments.
One of them came when the former Spurs boss was asked about our old rivals’ transfer policy. He pointed out how in the summer of 2024, when he wanted backing, they had given him teenagers. Meanwhile Chelsea snagged his top target.
Chelsea swoop to sign Postecoglou’s top wing target from 2024

“When we were trying to sign players, we weren’t in the market for those [top] players. How do you go from fifth to really challenging? We had to sign Premier League-proven players,” the former Tottenham coach said.
“But finishing fifth that year didn’t get us Champions League, we didn’t have the money. We ended up signing Dominic Solanke, who, absolutely, I really like. And three teenagers.”
“I was looking at Pedro Neto and [Bryan] Mbeumo and [Antoine] Semenyo at the time, and Marc Guehi.”
In the end, Chelsea were the ones who made the decisive £55m move to sign Neto from Wolves. While he’s not to everyone’s tastes, and is certainly not the elite winger we still need, he’s brought Premier League experience and a solid goal and assist output to the team, as well as tactical discipline and a great burst of speed.
We can see just how he would have fit into a Tottenham team and improved Postecoglou’s options. They might be in a better position today.

Bart Verbruggen is being heavily linked with a massive money move to Chelsea this summer, but for a number of reasons we simply can’t see it happening.
Chelsea are already looking forward to their summer business, and it seems like they will be jostling for one of the top free agents available in the Premier League this summer, breaking their usual pattern.
