Football London‘s Kieran King reports that Alex Scott is keen on a move to Chelsea this summer, with the Blues’ £64m bid having already been knocked back by Bournemouth. The Standard are cited as the source for Scott wanting to join Chelsea – he has no intention of signing a contract extension at the Vitality Stadium, where he has two years remaining on his current deal.
£64m rejected – but Bournemouth’s position may not hold
Bournemouth’s stance is firm on paper. They insist Scott is not for sale and believe they can still persuade him to put pen to paper on a new contract – they first tabled an offer back in March, though talks have since slowed considerably. Frankly, that slowdown tells you everything. When a 22-year-old who started virtually every Premier League match last season, helped the club finish sixth, and earned his first England senior call-up is in no rush to commit, the club’s confidence looks increasingly like posturing.
