Marco Verratti has been linked with a move to Chelsea in the press, thanks to comments made by his agent in recent times.
There is also the Italian connection to Blues boss Conte, who has coached the 24-year-old at international level. The combination of tough tackling and silky passing that the former Pescara man provides would be absolutely ideal for Chelsea’s depleted central midfield.
With Cesc Fabregas out of favour and looking set to be shipped out either on loan or permanently sooner rather than later; and with Jon Obi Mikel’s contract apparently being allowed to expire this summer, Chelsea will certainly need reinforcements in the middle of the park.
Whether they can get Verratti is another story. He would be extremely expensive to buy from PSG given that his contract runs until 2021 and they have no financial need to sell.
For now, the connection remains a dream for Chelsea fans.
