Cole Palmer celebrates win against Manchester United.

Chelsea ace reflects on favourite moment from record breaking season

Cole Palmer has shared his favourite moment from his record breaking first season with Chelsea, following his move from Manchester City.

Palmer left his boyhood club on deadline day last summer to join the Blues in a deal worth £42.5m and hasn’t looked back.

The 22-year-old took the Premier League by storm, in his first season playing regular football, scoring 22 Premier League goals and providing 11 assists as he was named Premier League Young Player of the Year.

The Blues endured an up and down campaign, but one constant was the brilliant form of Palmer, who also became the youngest player in Premier League history to finish a season with the most goal contributions, 33, finishing ahead of Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins.

Chelsea, spearheaded by the England international had a strong end to the season which saw them surge up the table to secure a top six finish, and a return to European competition, as they finished with five wins in a row.

Palmer’s favourite moment of the season was the 4-3 win against Manchester United.

One of the most memorable games of the season was a last gasp 4-3 win against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in which Palmer scored a hat-trick, as the Blues somehow came from 3-2 down in stoppage time to pull off the most unlikely of wins.

Palmer has been reflecting on that moment and admitted it was probably his favourite of the season given he was a United fan growing up.

“For emotions, the 4-3 game against United at Stamford Bridge was probably my favourite moment,” Palmer told Sport Bible.

“Chelsea had not beaten United for many years at Stamford Bridge and we needed to win to [challenge] for Europe.

“The way we won with a goal in the 100th and 101st minute was big for us.”

Palmer is currently away with England as he prepares for friendlies against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Iceland next week, with the forward almost a guarantee to make Gareth Southgate’s final 26 man squad for the Euros this summer.
