Premier League striker ‘does want the move’ to Chelsea but there’s one sticking point

One Premier League striker is keen on making a move to Chelsea during this transfer window. However, there is one major sticking point to any move right now.

Chelsea are on the hunt for a new striker, and today they have even been linked with making a move to sign another Premier League striker in an attempt that seems highly unrealistic and near impossible.

But even this move we are reporting on for this article also now seems very unrealistic.

Chelsea are keen on signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth. The former Blues player is also keen on the move, according to our writer Simon Phillips’ SPTC sources.

What has been reported?

Solanke back to Chelsea looks impossible

Phillips says: “Chelsea are keen on Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke this summer and have made enquiries.

“SPTC sources understand that he DOES want the move back to Chelsea.”

However, there is a major sticking point that sees this one being shut down before it even starts unless the player pushes for a move.

Phillips continues: “The former Chelsea player has a release clause around £60m and Chelsea have asked his club about paying it in installments, or if there is any waiver on it. Bournemouth have at the moment said no to both.

“SPTC sources have said Chelsea do not want to pay the release clause, which we believe could mean in full. Bournemouth are not playing ball and do not want to let Solanke go, so they’re basically saying release clause in full and up front or no deal.”

So there you have it – this one does not look to be advancing at the moment unless any big changes in stance from the selling club, or the player in question decides to go public with a desire to leave and rejoin his former club at Stamford Bridge.
