Chelsea have just beaten Wolves 6-2, with a hattrick from Noni Madueke the biggest talking point of a crazy afternoon.
The winger came into the team and was a menace down the right wing, scoring three almost identical goals from Cole Palmer assists.
The pair of them were sometimes taking turns to play on the right wing last season, so we didn’t get as much of them on the pitch together as he could have. But they linked up brilliantly today and it turns out Noni even has thought of a nickname for himself to match up with Cole “Cold” Palmer, as he revealed in his post match interview:
“He is cold and I am fire, so it mixes well. He has always got the ability to play the right pass at the right time, so it’s brilliant,” the winger said.
Let’s hope we get to see a lot more of this duo playing together this season. We could yet see many more goals and assists.

Noni strikes back after minor disrespect
After a good preseason, we could understand if Noni was feeling a little disrespected by the fact he was left on the bench for both of the first two games this season. The fact that he was being linked with transfers away will have stung even more.
Well, he couldn’t be doing more to turn it around, and a hattrick here surely does wonders for his standing in Enzo Maresca’s thinking.
The question is how to fit him in. Romeo Lavia needs to come back into the team, so who drops out? What about Cristopher Nkunku, who also didn’t start today? It’s a nice problem to have of course, but it’s a reminder that despite the big win we’re still searching for the right balance with so many options available.
