Ex-Blue shares honest opinion on who Chelsea’s best summer signing is

Former Chelsea player Glen Johnson has revealed who he believes is the club’s best and most exciting summer signing.

It was once again another busy window for the Blues with multiple new faces coming through the door, the most high profile of which were Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix and Pedro Neto.

Sancho made an instant impact on his debut against Bournemouth on Saturday, whilst Felix also scored on his debut in the 6-2 win against Wolves, with Chelsea hoping their new signings can have an impact throughout the campaign.

Whilst supporters will be disappointed the club didn’t land a top quality centre forward there was still plenty of good business done in the window as Chelsea added to their plethora of attacking options.

Supporters were really excited by the arrival of Neto, who is a proven quantity in the Premier League, but Johnson has actually named Felix as his signing of the summer.

“I’ll say João Félix because not only is he a bloody good player, but he knows the club and he’s already performed in the Premier League, so that’s already a few boxes ticked,”  he told Betfred as cited on X.com.

“If he can get anywhere near back to his best, then he’ll be a great signing for Chelsea.

“He’s a world-class footballer, so as long as he has the desire to get back to his best and put in the hard work, I’m sure he’s still capable of being a top, top player. You don’t lose your ability overnight.”

Felix arrived from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth £44.5m and despite only being 24 it feels like this is his last chance at a big cub and he needs to make it happen.

There’s no doubting his ability and Felix will get plenty of opportunities to impress Enzo Maresca with Chelsea potentially facing the longest season in their history, but he’s still got a lot of work to do if he’s to establish himself as a regular starter.
