Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has made a big claim about Chelsea’s attack, which performed brilliantly in Saturday’s win against West Ham at the London Stadium.
The Blues turned in arguably their best performance of the season as they ran out comfortable 3-0 winners thanks to two goals from Nicolas Jackson, with Cole Palmer adding the third.
A lot has been made of Chelsea not signing a striker, but they did add Joao Felix, Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho to give Enzo Maresca an embarrassment of riches to choose from in the final third.
Cole makes big claim about Chelsea’s attack
Sancho made his first start following his impressive performance against Bournemouth and he set Jackson up for the opener inside the first five minutes.
The former Borussia Dortmund star started on the left with Palmer operating centrally with Madueke on the right and Chelsea’s attack caused the Hammers all sorts of problems, particularly in the opening 20 minutes.
Chelsea have already shown this season how ruthless their attack can be as they put six past Wolves at Molineux and they demonstrated more of that quality against West Ham.
Cole is certainly a big fan of his former club’s attack and speaking about Sancho before kick off he claimed that those three could open up any defence in world football.
“He’ll love playing with Cole Palmer and Madueke,” he told TNT Sports.
“Those three together, they can open up any defence in world football.”
That’s some praise and whilst the early evidence has shown the Blues can be devastating going forward on their day it’s perhaps a little early to be making claims like that.
Chelsea are next in action against Barrow on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup with it unlikely that Palmer, Sancho or Madueke will feature, and it will be a chance for the likes of Neto, Mykhailo Mudyrk and perhaps youngster Tyrique George to impress.
