“I always try to” – Cole Palmer shares how he wants to play every time he steps on the pitch

Cole Palmer is very much the man of the moment and he’s recently revealed what he always looks to do every time he steps onto the pitch.

Palmer added another award to his ever growing collection on Tuesday when he was named England Player of the Year, and he became the first Blue since Ashley Cole in 2010 to get his hands on the award.

The 22-year-old has picked up where he left off last season and has made a brilliant start to the new campaign with six goals and five assists in the first seven games.

The England international’s rise to the top of the game has been so quick and since the start of last season he’s made 44 goal contributions, more than any other player in the Premier League.

Conversation has centred around whether Palmer is one of the best players in the world and the best in the Premier League, but he just seems to take it all in his stride and it looks like he’s not phased by anything.

After being named England Player of the Year, Palmer opened up on what it meant to him and what he always looks to do every time he plays.

“I want to say thank you to the fans, being voted by the whole country is an honour,” he told the England website.

“I always try to excite people in the way that I play. I want to take risks and try things. I think that’s how the fans want to see me play and I try to play as if I was a fan out on the pitch.

“That means trying to score goals and getting them off their seats.”

Palmer only made his England debut in November 2023 and currently has nine caps and two goals for the Three Lions, and will be looking to nail down a regular starting place in the team having not started a single game at Euro 2024.
