Journalist details what Palmer did to Madueke against Nottingham Forest which will please fans

Chelsea endured a frustrating afternoon against Nottingham Forest as they failed to take their chances, but journalist Rahman Osman noticed something interesting Cole Palmer did.

The Blues saw their five game winning streak come to and end as they were held to a 1-1 draw by a stubborn Forest side, who like Chelsea are unbeaten away from home.

Chelsea went behind early in the second half but hit back through Madueke and despite Forest going down to ten men for the final 20 minutes they were unable to find a breakthrough, with both Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku guilty of missing big chances.

Whilst Enzo Maresca will be frustrated to leave with only a point, Chelsea didn’t play badly and created more than enough chances to win the game.

The Blues sit fourth heading into the international break, although they only have one win from four home games this season compared to a 100% record on the road.

Forest tried to mark Palmer out the game but the England international still saw a lot of the ball and tried to make things happen, and he fashioned a good chance for himself late on with a brilliant piece of skill.

Especially in the first half Palmer was always looking to play in Madueke, who was a threat down the right hand side and Osman noticed how he reacted when Madueke over hit a cross.

He wrote on Londonworld.com:

“After one over-hit cross from Madueke in the first half, Palmer, unlike many players, signalled and encouraged him instead of complaining, which likely boosted Madueke’s confidence and eventually led to the goal the winger scored.”

Naturally the pair combined for the equaliser and Palmer has now assisted Madueke for all four of his Premier League goals this season.

Despite producing brilliant numbers Palmer is also a very unselfish player and will always look to try and play his team-mates in if they are in a better position which is a great trait to have, and it’s clear he and Madueke have built up a brilliant chemistry on the pitch.
