Axel Disasi has been speaking about how Chelsea’s players feel after Jadon Sancho scored his first goal for the club against Southampton.
Disasi and Sancho were both on the scoresheet as the Blues ran riot at St Mary’s as they beat Southampton 5-1 to move above Arsenal into second place on goal difference.
Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Christopher Nkunku were also on the score sheet as the Blues became the league’s top scorers with 31 goals from their 14 games this season.
Disaso on Sancho scoring his first Chelsea goal
Maresca made seven changes from last weekend, meaning Sancho dropped to the bench having started against both Heidenheim and Villa.
The England international joined the Blues in the summer on an initial loan deal from Manchester United which will become permanent in the summer for in the region of £25m.
Sancho started well with three assists in his first three games, but after being taken off against Liverpool at half time, it would be a month until he appeared for the Blues again due to illness and injury.
Maresca described Sancho as a special player earlier this season and it will be great for his confidence to get his first goal in Blue.
Speaking after the game Disasi shared that Sancho had been brilliant since he arrived at the club and that he was really happy for him.
“It’s something he was waiting for, and we are all happy for him because since he joined us he has done a great job,” he told Chelsea’s website.
“He’s a great guy with a great personality so I’m happy for him.”
Jason Cundy had praised Sancho for his performance against Villa and the 24-year-old has one goal and three assists in eight Premier League appearances.
The winger will be hoping he’s done enough to return to the starting line-up for Sunday’s London derby against Tottenham.
