Jadon Sancho names Chelsea player he thought “played fantastic” against Tottenham

Jadon Sancho praised Marc Cucurella’s performance against Tottenham and believes the Spaniard was fantastic after recovering from two costly slips.

Sancho turned in one of his best performances in a Chelsea shirt as the Blues rallied to beat Tottenham 4-3 after being 2-0 down in the first 12 minutes.

The England international started the comeback with a brilliant strike, before Chelsea completed their turnaround in the second half thanks to two penalties from Cole Palmer and a great finish from Enzo Fernandez.

Sancho praises Cucurella performance

Sancho and Pedro Neto were singled out by Enzo Maresca after the game for their performances, with the duo working extremely hard defensively for the team as well as contributing going forward.

The 24-year-old now has three assists and two goals in nine Premier League appearances for the Blues and seems to be finding his feet at Stamford Bridge.

It was a brilliant team effort with everyone contributing and speaking after the game Sancho reserved praise for Cucurella, and joked his boots would be going in the bin after he slipped twice, with Spurs scoring on both occasions.

Marc Cucurella changes his boots on the sideline after slipping twice against Tottenham.
Cucurella had an opening 15 minutes to forget against Tottenham.

“They’re going in the bin after this game. After the mistakes, I thought he played fantastic. We believe in Cucu,” he told Match of the Day 2.

“We’ve got back-to-back games every week, we need this rotation in the squad. There’s one team and then another team. It gets rotated and it works.

“We’ve got so many talented players and we push each other. I’m thankful I’m here.”

Sancho was brilliant and with Yves Bissouma man marking Cole Palmer it perhaps allowed Sancho a little more freedom than he may have expected.

The Blues have now won four Premier League games in a row and with Brentford, Everton, Fulham and Ipswich their remaining league games this year, confidence will be high they can secure maximum points such is the way the team are playing.

  1. I realise winning breeds confidence etc etc but I can only thank everyone at the club for bringing back the old Chelsea style from the late 60s & early 70s. Playing on the front foot with speed & panache as well as physicality that was the club’s identity in those days. Under Mourinho the club was the most successful but the style was not the outgoing freedom that the players are displaying now. It’s a pleasure to watch ALL of the squad displaying the ethos that the manager has instilled. We may not be title contenders (neither were Leicester!!) in pundits eyes but stranger things have happened. Thanks to all concerned for bringing back the smile to us fans.
