“As for today” – Fabrizio Romano reveals Chelsea’s current feelings on Maresca and future plans

Chelsea see Enzo Maresca as the right manager for now and going forward, and are holding meetings with him about the summer window according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues lost 3-0 to Brighton on Friday night in what was arguably their worst performance of the season, with Maresca’s men now deep in a slump they seemingly don’t know how to get out of.

Chelsea currently have just two wins from their last nine league matches, and couldn’t even manage a shot on target against the Seagulls.

Chelsea see Maresca as the right manager

With both Manchester City and Bournemouth winning on Saturday the Blues dropped to sixth in the table, although they are just one point outside the top four.

The pressure is no doubt building on Maresca, although Gary Neville feels the pressure should be on those above the manager.

It’s believed Chelsea are happy with the job the 45-year-old is doing, but the Blues face a difficult end to the season after a lack of investment in the January window.

Chelsea didn’t add any reinforcements to the squad and have now been struck by injuries to Marc Guiu, Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke, leaving them very short of options in attack.

However, Romano has provided an update on Chelsea’s feelings on Maresca, and said they are planning with him for the summer window already.

“As for today, Chelsea absolutely see Enzo Maresca as the right manager for the present and future,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“So they are building with Maresca, and they are already having meetings for the summer transfer window, so he’s 100% involved in the summer plans.”

The summer is already shaping up to be a very important window given the deficiencies in the squad, but the immediate focus for Maresca is getting Chelsea back to winning ways.

Things don’t get any easier and the Blues face a tricky trip to Villa park to take on Aston Villa on Saturday in a game they really need to win.

  1. I believe this set up of Chelsea FC isn’t working … It waste of time and money . Maresca isn’t good to manage this team even the team is increases due injury…. His selections and tactics are not good and obvious he doesn’t like Felix . They should have kept Felix happy by playing him week end week out but not because of he said Palmer . He could shift Palmer in the wing and play Felix at the centre behind striker . They let go veiga , colwill not good enough he makes too many mistakes . This team is stronger if they play 3 at the back . If they want to play 4 at the back they should play two pivot and let Enzo marauding the attack . Bring Washington to play upfront don’t waste the talent . Why not play the new signing alongside caceido and Enzo in central midfield . This manager obsessed of wingers . And they’re exposed at the back and been counter . I hope he will try anselmino to play now so he can adopt and learn quickly the physicality of the premier league . Maresca system is been exposed and he doesn’t know defence at all . His selections making isn’t balanced and he rely too much on one man . His not good manager for this club . If they keep him , I hope prove it right that he is the right one for the club . To the owner’s and the two stooges director this premier league is not Disney league its a man games .
