“Many speculations” – Enzo Maresca suggests Chelsea star could leave this summer

Enzo Marescsa has refused to rule out Christopher Nkunku leaving Chelsea this summer when asked about his future.

Nkunku started Chelsea’s 3-0 win against ES Tunis in the Club World Cup on Tuesday evening, with Tosin Adarabioyo, Liam Delap and Tyrique George scoring the goals.

The France international played the full 90 minutes as the Blues set up a last 16 clash against Benfica, but it’s hard to see him playing a significant role in the latter stages.

Maresca speaks on Nkunku future

Whilst incomings are important, the Blues need to sort out the future of a number of players, with Nkunku falling into that category.

The France international arrived to much excitement from RB Leipzig for £52m in the summer of 2023, but injuries have played a big part during his time in west London.

Nkunku started just nine league games last season, and has struggled to make an impact, whilst it’s clear he doesn’t suit Enzo Maresca’s system.

It’s been reported Nkunku has made up his mind and wants to leave this summer, whilst there was interest from Bayern Munich in January.

Recently Nkunku has been linked with a move to Manchester United, and after the win against ES Tunis Maresca spoke about his future.

“But as you said, there are many speculations, not just about Christo, about many players.

“And then if something is going to happen, I don’t know because we said many times when the transfer window is open, anything can happen in terms of players that can arrive or players that can leave.”

Joao Felix also set to leave

Nkunku is unlikely to be the only forward leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, with Joao Felix also set to depart.

Felix only joined from Atletico Madrid for £45m last summer, but after just one year he’s set to leave the club, and spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan.

The Portugal international isn’t part of the Club World Cup squad and has been linked with a return to former club Benfica.

  1. It is good, let unserious plays go.there are some that are not ready to help the club but just there to fatten their pockets.Nkuku was a high expectation to he let Chelsea down, refusing to step up his game.Chelsea should go for a proven striker and i believe Victor Osh fits that profile but been a black will work against him
