The January transfer window is now open, but Chelsea are expected to have a quiet month according to David Ornstein.
Chelsea heavily invested in the squad again over the summer, and made five attacking signings as they totally revamped the frontline.
With the window now open Chelsea have inevitably been linked with players, and supporters would like to see the squad strengthened for the second half of the season.
David Ornstein expects Chelsea to have a quiet January
It’s been quite the start to the year for the Blues as Enzo Maresca left the club on New Years Day after 18 months in charge.
Chelsea confirmed Liam Rosenior as their new head coach on Tuesday, and he’s signed a six and half year contract at Stamford Bridge.
Rosenior would more than likely want the squad to be strengthened, with the Blues still looking light at centre back.
However, it appears Rosenior will have to make do with what he’s got, and Ornstein has provided an update.
“I think it’s going to be a quiet January at Chelsea,” he told NBC Sports as quoted on X.com.
Whilst it appears no first team reinforcements will arrive, the Blues could still look to do deals for young talents for the future.

Whilst the squad clearly isn’t good enough to challenge for the title, Chelsea still have enough to finish in the top five and secure Champions League football.
The Blues currently sit fifth, but are on a run of just one win in their last eight league games, and sit just four points above 14th.
The expectation as the start of the season was Champions League qualification and to go on deep runs in the cup competitions.
That’s unlikely to have changed just because a new manager has arrived, and Chelsea have reportedly told Rosenior Champions League qualification is “critical.”
