Fabrizio Romano shares fresh update on Chelsea’s pursuit of Liam Rosenior

Chelsea haven’t finalised the appointment of Liam Rosenior as BlueCo are still looking for his replacement at Strasbourg according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues are once again looking for a new manager after Enzo Maresca parted ways with the club on Thursday after 18 months in charge.

Under-21s boss Calum McFarlane has been tasked with leading the team for Sunday’s game against Manchester City.

Whilst a new manager won’t be in place for the trip to The Etihad, the Blues could have their new man in place for Wednesday’s game against Fulham.

Strasbourg boss Rosenior is the leading candidate and negotiations are said to be well underway for the 41-year-old to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.

Rosenior knows what it’s like working for BlueCo so what meets him at Chelsea in theory shouldn’t be a surprise, and a deal to appoint him could be finalised this weekend.

However, there are still a few things that need to finalised, and Romano has provided an update on why it’s not yet done.

“Why is it [Rosenior to Chelsea] not done, sealed, signed, official yet? he told his YouTube channel

“Because Chelsea and Strasbourg have the same ownership group, so BlueCo need to find a replacement for Liam Rosenior and they want to make sure that he’s a very good coach as well.

“They don’t want to go for a normal coach. They want to go for an elite young coach in order to continue the project at Strasbourg and then bring Liam Rosenior to Chelsea.”

Chelsea face tough Man City task

Whilst Chelsea continue in their process to appoint Rosenior, the Blues have to switch their attention to on pitch matters.

A trip to The Etihad is tough at the best of times, but even tougher in the circumstances the club currently find themselves in.

Chelsea will be without the suspended Moises Caicedo, whilst a final decision on Marc Cucurella is yet to be taken.

In all honesty the Blues will need some sort of miracle to get a result, but in football you can never say never.
