“The only problem is” – Sky Sports reporter highlights Liam Rosenior to Chelsea issue

One Sky Sports reporter has highlighted what he sees as one Liam Rosenior to Chelsea issue after Enzo Maresca left the club.

Maresca and Chelsea decided to part ways on New Years Day as 2026 kicked off with a big bang at Chelsea Football Club. There never seems to be a dull moment, and as fire works were going off around the globe to see in 2026, at Chelsea, they were starting some fireworks of their own.

It’s been a mad 24 hours since then and Chelsea fans around the world have bene dying to know who will be replacing Maresca now he has gone.

Well, the leading candidate is Liam Rosenior from sister club Strasbourg. That looks like it could genuinely happen, if we are being told that there are still other candidates on the list as well.

Perhaps the reason that he is not in place yet is due to the fact that Chelsea, who’s owners also own Strasbourg, want to find a suitable replacement for Rosenior at the French club first. Or, it could also be down to a big game they have this weekend, as Sky Sports point out.

Sky Sports News chief correspondent Kaveh Solhekol:

“The latest information I have is that Enzo Maresca decided to step down as he felt his position was untenable. It doesn’t usually happen that a Premier League boss walks away from the club.

“But I believe it is not as clear-cut as that. Chelsea were considering making a change. There were issues with results and comments he made in the media, and also the fact he had been linked with other jobs.

“There are key people at Chelsea who are impressed by the job Liam Rosenior has done at Strasbourg. His style of football is the same as Chelsea play. The only problem is, he has a job at the moment and has a big game against Nice on the weekend.

“He is the leading candidate. Other names I have heard mentioned that are unlikely are Oliver Glasner, Cesc Fabregas, Andoni Iraola and Roberto De Zerbi.

“Chelsea have a small shortlist – less than a handful of candidates. They have been vetting the candidates and have a contingency plan.

“The next appointment will be a permanent head coach and he will need to fit under the exact same structure that Maresca was working under.

“But I don’t think they can make an appointment in time for Man City on Sunday.”

  1. This Is What I Was Saying To Myself That If Chelsea Could Go For Rosenior To Replace Maresca Then His Team Will Now Become Empty And Chelsea Need To Also Go And Look For A Coach For Strasbourg Because They Are The One’s That Own Them And They Have To Take On Nice During The Weekend So Probably Chelsea Should Go For Another Coach If Club Do Not Allow To Take The Coach Or The Coach Refuse ItSelf Then They Are Some Coach That Are Jobless Including:Jurgen Klopp,Zinedine Zindane This Two I Know But They Are Many But Pls Chelsea Don’t Go For Rosenior I Have My Reason Just Do The Work Once Joe For All Let Him Stay At His Club Because If You Go For Him You Still Need To Sign A Coach For His Team Again Which Is Two Work So Just Go For The Following Name Pls I Beg You Chelsea Football Club (1)John Terry,Zinedine zindane,Jurgen Klopp,Simone Inzaghi,Jose Mourinho Pls Go For This List Of Coaches I Have Mentioned Above Thank!
