While everyone was thinking about the appointment of Xabi Alonso as Chelsea’s new manager, our writer Simon Phillips had an exclusive about a potential transfer.
On his Substack, Phillips claims that Chelsea are “discussing” a move to bring Lewis Hall back to the club from Newcastle.
While Alonso wants to keep Marc Cucurella, there is some suggestion that the club might have to sell him if a new contract isn’t agreed. Hall would make a great long term replacement
Hall a great choice for Chelsea – but potentially a long way from a deal
We always said it was a mistake to sell Hall, and we’d love to see him signed again. It’s great to have academy players do well at your club, and the youngster is just a top player.
But we do have our doubts about how far this interest will go. Hall was really happy with his move to the North East – would he be keen to come straight back? We’re not so sure. Phillips himself calls it a “hugely ambitious idea” and we dread to think what the price tag of the England international would be.

Max araujo best to buy can play LB LWB CMs is a versatile player . If Nunez available wants to play for Chelsea FC sign him , he can be a good additional striker for CFc under Alonso . Satpaev young but I believe his ready for EPL physicality, he has a experience playing in UCL plus his build is readymade for EPL. I hope he won’t be loan up . Gusto is good but not as a RB , he is a WB that’s were his strength comes . CFc should promote a graduate from the academy to deputies RJ to RB position . Should be fast pace and strong physically good dribbling skills and can cross the ball immaculate that’s what’s this team lack . A ball crosser . CFc needs two quality CB from free agent and to buy one . Needs good heights and fast pace defender with physically strength . Good with the ball . Essugo and Santos must be given more regular playing time by Alonso to give caceido a well good rest . Caceido been burn out as will as Palmer . I hope Barco will come , he can be good for additional player for the team , he has that skills that he can be perfect for CFc . I hope the ownership and the poodle’s won’t interfere on Alonso selection making and tactical systems plus they should help each other work collectively to make the team squad not only competitive but be a champion team every season . If they buy a young player no problem but it should be physically ready to compete which that’s the beginning of their development to play. Winning in the pitch and be champion that’s the attraction for the investors to come invest to CFc and attract more quality players to play for the club .
