Former Chelsea striker Carlton Cole has backed Frank Lampard to return to Stamford Bridge and believes he deserves another shot at the job.
Chelsea are once again looking for a new manager after they parted ways with Enzo Maresca on Thursday just 18 months into a five year contract.
Maresca got Chelsea back into the Champions League last season, and won both the Conference League and Club World Cup.
Carlton Cole backs Frank Lampard for Chelsea job
Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior is reportedly the leading candidate for the job, and is familiar with the model BlueCo operate having already worked under them.
Chelsea reportedly view Rosenior as the “ideal” coach, but the deal is yet to be completed as Strasbourg are yet to finalise a replacement.
Cesc Fabregas and Roberto De Zerbi were names mentioned, but it’s understood neither manager is a candidate for the Chelsea vacancy.
Cole has made a suggestion and feels Lampard, who he was team-mates with at Chelsea deserves another shot in the hot seat.

“His first outing there was really good,” Cole told talkSPORT.
“Because he used the young players, he had Jody Morris next to him
“He did really well, better than expected, with no budget, so they had to feed the youth in. That set the tone.
“You cannot forget that. That was miracle work from Lampard.”
“I like Lampard as a Chelsea manager. The reason why I’m saying that is because I know he knows the club inside out.
“But that’s another thing, if he was to come in, they couldn’t dictate to him what to do. That’s what none of them want.”
Calum McFarlane to lead the team against Manchester City
Whilst Chelsea continue to negotiate for Rosenior, they have the tough task of a trip to Manchester City on Sunday.
Under-21s boss Calum McFarlane will lead the team, and he faces one of the toughest tasks in the game, coming up against Pep Guardiola.
Chelsea’s task has been made even harder by the fact Moises Caicedo is suspended, whilst a final decision hasn’t been on Marc Cucurella’s involvement.
