“In life” – Liam Rosenior openly adresses links with Chelsea, he remains favourite to replace Maresca

Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior has spoken on speculation linking him with Chelsea and said there are “zero guarantees” in life.

Chelsea and Enzo Maresca parted ways on Thursday just 18 months into a five year contract, and six months after he guided them to Champions League qualification and won the Conference League and Club World Cup.

Calum McFarlane the under-21s head coach is set to lead Chelsea in their big game away at Manchester City on Sunday.

Liam Rosenior speaks on Chelsea speculation

Chelsea are now once again in the process of looking for another manager, with Rosenior said to be the leading candidate.

Rosenior is currently in charge of Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg, so negotiations shouldn’t be difficult, but BlueCo will need to also find a new manager for the Ligue 1 side.

Rosenior is believed to be the favourite for the Chelsea job.

Strasbourg are preparing for their Ligue 1 game against Nice this weekend, and in his pre-match press conference Rosenior was asked about Chelsea.

“No, I haven’t spoken to the players about it,” he told his pre-match press conference.

“There’s no need, they’re connected and I’ve had a few lighthearted jokes. But we’ve been focused on our work.

“The goal is to continue creating great things here.

“In life, there are zero guarantees. You never know what tomorrow will bring. I’m just doing my job.

“There’s already been speculation. I don’t want to guarantee how long I’ll be here, but I enjoy myself here every day.

“I intend to continue doing so as long as I’m here. I love this club, but I can’t guarantee anything. Nobody can.”

Chelsea face tough Manchester City test

Life without Maresca begins with a difficult trip to Man City, where the Blues face a difficult task if they are to pick up a result.

Chelsea have already been dealt a huge blow with Moises Caicedo suspended after being booked against Bournemouth, whilst Marc Cucurella could be fit to return.

The Blues are looking for a first win against City since the Champions League final in 2021, and it would be quite the story if they pulled it off on Sunday.
